When in Our Music God Is Glorified

When in Our Music God Is Glorified
Text written by Fred Pratt Green (1903-2000)
Sung to ENGELBERG, composed by Charles V. Stanford (1852-1924)

Ephesians 5:19 ...speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,...

V. 1 When in our music God is glorified,
And adoration leaves no room for pride,
It is as though the whole creation cried:
Alleluia!

V. 2 How oft, in making music, we have found
A new dimension in the world of sound,
As worship moved us to a more profound
Alleluia!

Mark 14:26 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

V. 3 And did not Jesus sing a psalm that night
When utmost evil strove against the light?
Then let us sing for whom He won the fight:
Alleluia!

Psalm 150:3-5 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with timbrel and dancing,praise him with the strings and pipe,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,praise him with resounding cymbals.

V. 4 Let every instrument be used for praise;
Let all rejoice who have a voice to raise;
And may God give us faith to sing always:
Alleluia
