O Come, Let Us Sing to the Lord
Text taken from "Scottish Psalter, 1650"
Sung to IRISH C. M., from "A Collection of Hymns and Sacred Poems," Dublin, 1749
Psalm 95:1-6 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
V. 1 O come, let us sing to the Lord,
Come let us every one
A joyful noise make to the Rock
Of our salvation.
V. 2 Let us before His presence come
With glad and thankful voice;
Let us sing psalms of praise to Him,
And make a joyful noise.
V. 3 For God, a great God and great King,
Above all gods, He is;
The depths of earth are in His hand,
The strength of hills is His.
V. 4 To Him the ocean vast belongs,
For He the sea did make;
The dry land also from His hands,
Its form at first did take.
V. 5 O come, bow down and worship Him,
And kneeling, humbly pray,
Come to our Maker and our God,
And hear His voice today.
