Open My Eyes That I May See

Open My Eyes That I May See
Text written in 1895 by Clara H. Scott (1841-1897)
Tune also composed in 1895 by Clara H. Scott

Psalm 119:10 I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands.

V. 1 Open my eyes, that I amy see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.

Refrain: Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready, my God, Thy will to see;
Open my eyes, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

Matthew 13:9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.

V. 2 Open my ears, that I amy hear
Voices of truth Thou sendest clear;
And while the wave-notes fall on my ear,
Everything false will disappear.

Refrain: Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready, my God, Thy will to see;
Open my ears, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

Psalm 81:10 I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt.
Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

V. 3 Open my mouth, and let me bear
Gladly the warm truth everywhere;
Open my heart, and let me prepare
Love with Thy children thus to share.

Refrain: Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready, my God, Thy will to see;
Open my heart, illumine me,
Spirit divine!
