All Creatures of Our God and King

All Creatures of Our God and King
Text written in 1225 by Francis of Assisi (1182-1226), paraphrased in 1926 by William H. Draper (1855-1933)
Sung to LASST UNS ERFREUEN, from the "Geistliche Kirchengesange, Koln, 1623", arranged in 1906 by Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958)

Psalm 148:3 Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars.

Psalm 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

V. 1 All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice with us and sing:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
O burning sun with golden beam
And silver moon with softer gleam:

Refrain: Oh, praise Him! Oh, praise Him!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Psalm 148:8 ...lightning and hail, snow and clouds,
stormy winds that do his bidding....

V. 2 O rushing wind and breezes soft,
O clouds that ride the winds aloft:
Oh, praise Him!  Alleluia!
O rising morn, in praise rejoice,
O lights of evening, find a voice.
Refrain

V. 3 O flowing waters, pure and clear,
Make music for your Lord to hear.
Oh, praise Him! Alleluia!
O fire so masterful and bright,
Providing us with warmth and light,
Refrain

V. 4 Let all things their creator bless,
And worship Him in humbleness,
Oh, praise Him!  Alleluia!
Oh, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, three in One!
Refrain
